In 2022 we lost many great Musicians. In fact, a lot of us didn’t know some of their favorite artists had passed away. BackBeat R&B would like to take the time to honor those Artists who transitioned in the early part of 2022 and just know, you are not forgotten! - (January 15, 2022) for “The Ohio Players ” – Greg Webster Sr, he was the extraordinary Drummer who paved the way during the early years for the legendary group “The Ohio Players”.
- (February 4, 2022) Lead Singer of the incredible group Skylark-Donny Gerrard
His sexy voice along with dynamic stage presence helped to make the song “WildFlower” the groups signature song.
3. (February 17, 2022) Tenor Singer with the legendary “Manhattans” David Tyson, not only was he an important back-up singer with the group, he also had a big role in dozens of their greatest hits.
4. (April 25, 2022) Horn Player with “Earth Wind & Fire” Andrew Woolfolk, from “September” to “Shining Star” to “After The Love Is Gone” Andrew was an integral part of the famed Earth Wind & Fire horns.
5.(April 13, 2022) A Bassist & Lead singer with “Blood Stone” Charles McCormick was very multi-talented and with a gold-follow-up album called “Natural High” after their first album, ” its McCormick’s-penned signature song which reached the Top 10 on both the pop and R&B charts.
6. (January 7, 2022) Singer with the original Parliment-Funkadelic- Calvin Simon, for two decades will be deeply missed.
7. January 5, 2022) Jessie Lee Daniels, a founding member of the pioneering soul/Hip-Hop group the Force MDs.
